Applying for Benefits Through the VA


As a Post 9-11 or Montgomery GI Bill® Student enrolling for flight training with Alyeska Helicopters, you will first need to visit the VONAPP (Veterans Online Application) webpage, http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/, and enroll with the VA.

How to Apply:

Once you are at the home page, on the left-hand side, there will be tabs that will lead you through a series of drop down menus.

Select the following:

·       Education & Training

·       For Students

·       Get Started

·       Apply for Benefits

After you have clicked on the final option, you will be brought to the Apply for Benefits page. You will then be given the option to apply online (recommended), or to print out the form and mail it to Muskogee. For those applying online, select the Apply Online link. From here you will need to select the option that applies to you. If you are a new user, click I Am a New VONAPP User to create a VONAPP account. Otherwise, click I Have Used VONAPP Before.

or new users, you will need to create an 8 digit username and a password. You will need a valid email address to continue.

Once you have created an account, you are going to need to Create a New Form. From that drop down menu, select Education Benefits (Form 22-1990).

VONAPP will walk you through all of the steps. After submission, the regional office will send you a Certificate of Eligibility. Please bring this form to the office so that we may make copies.

As soon as we have received confirmation that you are eligible for GI Bill education benefits, you may begin your training with us.

Please note the average processing time on the VA Form 22-1990 is 30 days.
