About Us

School History

Alyeska Helicopters opened our doors in the spring of 2004. Due to the growing demand for helicopter flight training, and the lack of rotorcraft schools in Alaska, we started as Alaska’s only helicopter flight school. We experienced rapid increase in student numbers and therefore tripled our staff in the first year of operation. We started in Girdwood, moved to Birchwood, and have now settled at Merrill Field in Anchorage. For 2014, we built a new state-of-the-art hangar and added a Robinson Helicopters certified maintenance center.

Institutional Philosophy

At Alyeska Helicopters our goal is to create professional instruction tailored for the individual needs of our students. We strive to maintain the highest level of training and ensure each student carries forth an uncompromised dedication to safety. We are committed to producing highly competent, well-trained pilots for personal leisure or the competitive job market. Training in Alaska provides our students with extra knowledge and skills in mountain, rough terrain and adverse weather flying.

Instructional Facilities

Our office, flight and ground training facilities are located at Merrill Field, Anchorage, AK. The office hours are 9-5:30pm, 7 days a week. The school consists of primary flight instructors Thomas Bue, Jason Colllins and Ben Briceland. Our maintenance facility is also located at Merrill Field. We are a Robinson Helicopter Authorized Dealer & Service Center.
