Private Pilot Add-On
Educational Objective:
This program is designed for the student who has a Private Pilot Certificate with Airplane Rating and wishes to add a Rotorcraft Rating to that Certificate. A Private Pilot Certificate allows the pilot to fly for recreation with or without passengers and to share operating expenses with them, but prohibits the pilot from conducting flights for compensation or hire.
Admission Requirements:
A student must be 17 years of age and be able to read, speak, write and understand English. Before solo flight, the student must hold a valid third-class medical certificate from a Federal Aviation Administration approved physician.
Length of Program:
This program runs approximately two months.
Program Content:
Robinson R-22: 33 Hours Total
Ground Instruction: 12 Hours Total
Subject Areas:
Ground Instruction 12 Hours
12h Private: helicopter components, systems, instruments, basic aerodynamics, weight-and balance, FAA regulations, heliports.
Flight Instruction 33 Hours
23h Private Dual: basic procedures and flight maneuvers, pre-solo instruction, advanced maneuvers, night and cross-country flying, test preparation.
10h Private Solo: 7h solo local, 3h solo cross-country

- Program cost estimated, based on a minimum amount of hours required for this rating by the FAA.
- The $400.00 flight test fee is not paid from funds deposited with Alyeska Helicopters. Therefore, funds in reserve for the flight test should not be deposited with Alyeska Helicopters.
