At Alyeska Helicopters our goal is to specialize in personalized flight instruction tailored to the individual needs of our students. To train to the highest level and to insure each student carries forth an uncompromised dedication to safety. We are committed to producing highly competent, well-trained pilots for personal leisure or to enter the aviation community and competitive job market of the industry. Training in Alaska provides our students with extra credits giving them skill in mountain, rough terrain and adverse weather flying.

Alyeska Helicopters is also proud to present a clean Federal Aviation Administration record with no accidents, incidents or violations.

 

Want to become a helicopter pilot?

If you have ever dreamed of flying, and don’t know where to begin, Alyeska Helicopters can help.  We offer potential students a chance to experience a real flight lesson at a discounted rate.  Our Introductory Flight gives the prospective student a half hour of ground and safety instruction, and 20 minutes of actual flight time for only $159.00.
Your helicopter flight instructor will run you through the controls and demonstrate the helicopters capabilities. 

This Introductory Flight is perfect for students that want to explore the possibilities of becoming a pilot, without a substantial initial investment. 

Are you serious about Flight Training?

Students may enroll at any time. To enroll, fill out a student enrollment application and mail, fax or drop it off in person at the Alpine Air Alaska hangar. Please advise us of your arrival date for easy scheduling. Eligibility requirements for student pilots are:

  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language.
  • Hold at least a current Third-Class medical certificate, (Second-Class preferable)

 The following items must be reviewed and/or completed with the student prior to admissions:

  • Enrollment application
  • Dispatch form: helicopter rules, regulations and rental agreement.
  • Pilot’s license or passport, (picture I.D.), and/or birth certificate, (needed for the Transportation Safety Authority)

Student loans are available to those who qualify. There are several financial institutions that provide student loans to Alyeska Helicopters’ students, including Sallie Mae and Pilot Finance. The Whirly Girls have scholarship programs for lady pilots.
