Alyeska is the Aleut word for Alaska, meaning “great land”. We believe there’s no better way to experience this great land than from the air, and we’re proud to share that with our students. Together with our sister company Alpine Air Alaska, which offers year-round helicopter tours and charters, and our certified Robinson maintenance facility, we are committed to providing the highest level of excellence in all areas of helicopter instruction and services.
School History
In 2004, we opened our doors as the only FAA-approved helicopter flight school in the state. Based in Anchorage at Merrill FIeld Airport, we offer year-round flight instruction in a state-of-the-art hangar and Robinson Helicopters Certified maintenance center built in 2014.
Our Location
Alyeska Helicopters is located in south-central Alaska at the foothills of the Chugach Mountains. Alaska’s conditions can be rugged, and pilots who fly in this region are among the most qualified in the nation. In this unique environment our students develop extra skills in rough terrain and superior knowledge of mountains and adverse weather conditions – and the scenery is always breathtaking. Learn here, fly anywhere.
Institutional Philosophy
Our goal is to deliver professional instruction tailored for the individual needs of our students. We strive to maintain the highest level of training and ensure each student carries forth an uncompromised dedication to safety. We are committed to producing highly competent, well-trained pilots for personal leisure or the competitive job market.
